Manufacturing Head Engineer

The successful candidate will take a hands-on charge and lead the creation of the entire production setup, manufacturing processes and production team at the company, to enable the industrialization and overall production of the hardware products and related firmware/electronic platforms. S/he will set up and implement a production department strategy, all the way from the handover from the R&D to the final product release to customers. S/he will develop and implement production and QC processes, inventory management, supply chain, design of tooling and test procedures, and build the production team. S/he will work with the R&D team to improve our existing product designs for manufacturability, drive quality improvements and cost reductions, and give input into future product designs. At Hydromea we follow a flexible, responsive approach with a mix of in-house production and partial or full outsourcing, supported by a broadly equipped in-house workshop for R&D, prototyping, tooling and low-volume production. Our products range from high-end, low volume devices made in-house, to mid/high volume that are mostly outsourced. The successful candidate will develop suitable strategies for each product from prototype to scaled-up production, taking into account expected volume and QC requirements.

Your Responsibilities

​

• Define, develop, implement and execute a production department strategy

• Create, develop and manage various processes linked to the production, specifically: production, inventory, QC, supply chain & procurement

• Drive improved product quality by identifying manufacturing issues, developing solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production

• Drive the reduction in manufacturing complexity/cost, and improving efficiency, while maintaining high quality,

• Help improve current and future product designs for better manufacturability

• Co-ordination of smooth manufacturing releases of new products, and transition to new process/product changes

• Develop team requirements, attract and train top talent to build a world-class team

• Introduce and manage the KPIs linked to the production process

• Prepare and achieve required certifications for the manufacturing process and for the finished products

• Actively participate in and contribute to the overall company’s development and growth

The Best Candidate Would Have

​

• Swiss Tech. ET + experience, Ing. HES, or relevant Engineering diploma

• 3+ years’ experience in production management in the industry

• Solid experience in hands-on operations, startup experience is a plus

• High analytical skills, proactive problem solving, sense of priorities, flexible and versatile, excellent English communication skills

• Demonstrated experience in CAD/CAM, design and making of tooling, fixtures, test rigs, etc.

• Excellent knowledge of software tools. Coding knowledge is a plus.

• Excellent knowledge of production management tools (Lean, 5S, Kanban, etc…)

• Strong commitment to quality, architecture and documentation

• Natural leader capable of attracting and motivating a strong team

• Energy, enthusiasm and autonomy

• Fluent in English language. French & German is a plus.
