Join our passionate team at Hydromea, where we push the boundaries of underwater robotics. We are looking for a Mechatronics Intern with a strong interest in testing and validation of cutting-edge autonomous systems. If you're excited about electronics, embedded systems, and hands-on prototyping, this internship is for you!
Your Responsibilities
You will play a key role in developing and improving our testing ecosystem for the EXRAY platform — from individual embedded components to fully integrated robotic systems.
Your main missions:
• Design and improve PCBs for automated test benches.
• Develop mechanical components and robust connectors to make our test setups reliable and scalable.
• Automate testing procedures in Python — from low-level communication to high-level system tests.
• Work closely with production to deploy test plans that ensure high-quality hardware delivery.
• Build a modular interface tool to handle communication over various protocols: CAN, UART, RS485, JTAG, and more.
Your Qualifications
You must:
• Hold a Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA/CH citizenship (mandatory)
And have experience in at least two of the following:
• Python programming (bonus for C or C++ skills)
• Working with embedded communication protocols like I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, RS485
• PCB design and development
• Hands-on electronics experience including soldering SMD and fine-pitch components (QFN, etc.)
Why Join Us?
• Be part of an innovative and multidisciplinary robotics company
• Work on real, deployable systems — not just simulations
• Learn from experts in embedded systems, autonomy, and underwater robotics
• Gain practical skills that bridge electronics, software, and mechanical design
