From Subsea to Onshore Control Room in Real Time
How data from autonomous vehicles at depth can now be streamed via a wireless broadband grid on the seafloor
Hydromea’s LUMA™ subsea wireless broadband lets you stream high‑volume data from subsea sensors and autonomous underwater vehicles directly into your cloud environment in real time. By leveraging existing field infrastructure, operators cut vessel days, shrink emissions and make faster, better‑informed integrity decisions without adding new cables across the subsea field.

Why it matters for operators
Lower OPEX
Reduce vessel days and campaign‑based inspections by shifting to continuous, exception‑based monitoring driven by live subsea data.
Improved HSSE
Keep more people out of the offshore environment, reduce weather‑dependent operations and intervene earlier with better situational awareness.
Lower CO₂ footprint
Avoid unnecessary mobilisations and cut emissions by handling more inspection, verification and triage from shore using real‑time feeds.
Higher uptime and asset reliability
Spot issues sooner, shorten decision cycles from weeks to hours and address problems before they become unplanned outages.
How it works

Step 1: AUV harvests data and arrives at the WLAN hotspot
An Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) departs its docking station with a mission to collect data from sensors and perform an inspection or intervention task at your asset. Once the mission is complete, the AUV navigates into the LUMA™ wireless coverage zone around the asset.
Step 2: Connect through a LUMA™ subsea wireless hotspot
A compact LUMA™ optical hotspot creates a high‑bandwidth subsea WLAN around the asset. Within this zone, the AUV can upload collected data in real time and, when needed, be taken over by an onshore pilot to perform a live inspection.

Step 3: Stream directly into your cloud and control room
Using the field’s existing communications backbone, data is routed into your cloud environment and operational dashboards, giving integrity engineers and AUV pilots instant visibility from shore. Live subsea data becomes part of your normal decision‑making loop, without new field‑wide cables.
